The MOD's Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation offers a wide variety of exciting training schemes to suit your educational qualifications.
This includes our Defence Engineering and Science Group (DESG) Graduate Scheme, which offers world-class opportunities and is widely recognised as one of the very best graduate development schemes for engineers and scientists in the UK.
We believe that the quality and variety of our graduate training programme, our accelerated path to chartership and incorporated status, our personal mentoring and huge investment in each new entrant, sets us apart from competitors in the engineering and science field. (Please note: the DESG page also includes details of other schemes, our unique Defence Sixth Form College opportunity, our university sponsorship offers, and information on how to apply to each of the individual schemes.)
For those not seeking a graduate scheme, the DE&S also offers the DE&S Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme, suitable for anyone over the age of 16 in possession of the minimum GCSE requirements. This scheme provides you with an amazing opportunity to gain engineering qualifications and experience, whilst at the same time you earn a good salary and look forward to an exciting engineering career in the DE&S organisation.
Defence Commercial Graduate Programme
The Defence Commercial Graduate Programme provides a career opportunity in Purchasing and Contract Management in the Ministry of Defence (MOD). From army boots to aircraft, and everything in between, the MOD purchases a range of equipment every year to support the Armed Forces in both UK and overseas operations.
And it does not stop there; much of the equipment we purchase does not come off the shelf, so an essential part of the job is negotiating the details of the contracts we place, agreeing the terms of delivery and managing the equipment into service and beyond.
The Defence Commercial Graduate Programme is recruited for annually and is a 2 year commercial development programme. Graduates with a minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in any subject are eligible to apply, however those with degrees in business management, law, politics, finance, science, engineering or defence-related disciplines may be particularly interested. Applicants are assessed via the MOD Management Competency Test and an assessment centre.
Full details on the programme and how to apply are available via the Defence Commercial Graduate Programme brochure.
